Johnson-Betts Meadows Groundbreaking Marks Hoppe Development’s First Project in Kansas
Hoppe Development celebrated the groundbreaking of Johnson-Betts Meadows in Kansas City, Kansas, marking another important step in expanding access to quality affordable housing throughout the region.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together project partners, local leaders, and community members to celebrate the start of a development that will provide much-needed housing opportunities while transforming a long-vacant site into a vibrant residential community.
Located at 15th Street and Freeman Avenue, Johnson-Betts Meadows will include 70 apartment homes across three residential buildings. The community is designed to serve households at or below 30%, 50%, and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), helping address the growing need for affordable housing in the area.
The development includes:
70 affordable apartment homes
A mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom floor plans
A community room, fitness center, playground, and walking trails
Outdoor gathering areas and resident amenities
Energy-efficient construction designed to support long-term sustainability
The development was made possible through collaboration with numerous public and private partners, including the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Johnson-Betts Meadows reflects Hoppe Development's continued commitment to creating high-quality affordable housing that strengthens neighborhoods, expands housing opportunities, and supports long-term community growth.
