The Hoppes came to Lincoln, Nebraska from Prussia at the end of the 19th century. The first generation started a grocery store and the second generation built Hoppe Lumber Yard. John L. Hoppe Jr. and Fred Hoppe expanded the business to include commercial and residential real estate. In 2019 Fred Hoppe's son, Jake Hoppe, joined to help grow and diversify the housing development business.
